Both Employer and Employee contribute towards Employees Provident Fund. Your EPF Balance consists of contribution of Employer, Employee and interest accrued every year on available balance. This interest is decided by government and Central Board and then added to EPF balance of all beneficiaries.
EPF balance can be accessed from all PF Regional Offices. This website has list of all the regional offices. The EPF India website does not provide link to know the EPF balance update but some regional websites provide such facility. To know Employee Provident Fund Balance, you have to visit the Regional Office link. So you can know your EPF Balance from the website which provides such link otherwise you have to visit Concerned PF Office and submit form for it manually.
Access the list of Regional Provident Fund Offices and Websites at this site. Now visit your regional office link and check if your state website provides such service. If yes then you have to follow following steps to check your EPF Balance Online.
1. Visit the online tool below and click “Click here to know the balance“.
2. Choose the EPF Office and Region from where your firm is registered.
3. Enter the establishment code and establishment extension code if any and employee account number.
4. Enter your Name and Mobile Number
5. Check on “I Agree” and click submit to find balance.
If you have filled all details properly you will get your the EPF account balance. Government has not laid down any rules for EPF organization to provide you with EPF balance, nor there is any prescribed format. EPFO sends Annual Account Statement to the Employee at their working address every year, so one can calculate on the basis of that statement also.
Some regional offices like EPF Kerala are providing all Value Added Services online to its beneficiaries. Also, get PF Settlement Forms for free!
Now a new service is launched and one can know EPF balance directly from below Online Tool!
If your State is not providing you with online EPF enquiry you have to visit EPF office manually submit form there and get all information about EPF Balance. This procedure normally takes 1 month. You can check your EPF Balance below:

I had worked in Reliance Retail Limited, Kochi, Kerala, from January 2007 to August 2008, as Senior Manager. As per my last payslip (which was for the month of October 2008 (full & final settlement)), my PF. A/C no. is shown as MH/BA/48270/50001987 and Pension A/C no. is shown as MH/BA/48270/4392. I have received TDS for this account till FY 2012.
Please let me know what steps to be taken to retrieve my correct number, if wrong.
By TDS I mean TDS certificate from Reliance.

Full and final settlement mentioned is that with Reliance, which being the last pay slip received. My PF account was not closed and TDS was being deducted for interest received, till FY 11-12. Please be informed that this information was shared for the reply sent on 29-07-15, by Ms. Anu Dey that the PF number mentioned is wrong. Would appreciate, if you can let me know, how the correct PF number can be zeroed in.
This happens when you always opens a new thread. Is it really so hard to keep communication at one place or do you think we can remember all our communication with each member? When you know that where and what reply you got, still you opens a new thread?
Number mentioned in Pay slip isn’t necessarily your PF Number. Pay Slips are not issued by PF Office. Why you are not filling up claim forms through your ex-employer? This way you will get to know your correct number.
However, in MH/BA/48270/50001987 your employee no 50001987 is wrong. It can only be of 7 characters max. (Please don’t ask us to try different combinations). Please check Provident Fund Number in Proper Format..
