After you have resigned from any company and want to withdraw your Employees provident fund, what is the procedure and how you can withdraw that money. In normal case one can withdraw money from EPF after 2 months after resignation, but in few cases one can withdraw his money from EPF just after resignation. The EPF beneficiary need not wait for 2 months to withdraw funds from EPF Account.
Most of people want to withdraw EPF just after resignation. They have their reasons, but this two month waiting period can be waived only in 2 situations which are mentioned in EPF Act. Even if one is shifting to another state the person has to come back after 2 months of waiting period to complete the withdraw process, but with UAN this process is simplified and can be completed online.
The 2 situations as mentioned in EPF Act under which one can withdraw money immediately are:
- When one is going to settle abroad for always either he/she has got job there or any other reason and does not intend to come back in future. In this case the person has to submit copy of Visa work license and appointment letter etc.
- A female EPF beneficiary can withdraw funds in case she is leaving her job to get married and does want to work in future. The person has to provide proof in this case also like wedding card etc.
There are other cases under which one can partially withdraw money from EPF. It is never advised to withdraw funds immediately as this may also lead to tax burden also. Rather you should apply for withdrawal after completion of stipulated time. Now a days the process this simplified with introduction of UAN which we have discussed earlier.

A.As per latest update, after resignation one can withdraw 75% after completion of 1 month post resignation
B. After the age of 55 yrs completion one can withdraw 90% of the amount.
Does both these situation are correct?
Does it mean that there isno tax liability in both these situation or to wait completion of 2 months after resignation
