In your first comment you were informed by your officials that claim ill be settled in 30 days from the date of submission. Now you have been told that it will be settled in 10 days. Earlier you said your forms are submitted in Jan 2015, now in July 2015. But to inform you neither they were submitted than nor this time. No records found in online database for your claim form submission. Where did you submit them? Do you have Acknowledgement Slip?
Now regarding knowing of status ASAP, if you don’t have patience of few hours than next time please visit PF Office. Also next time please be sure of submission by having acknowledgement. Claim settlements usually takes 30 business days. Thanks..

I joined this company in April 2011. I worked there till 2013 April. This is where the PF account was opened. Then moved to another job in Chennai due to personal reasons. The company in Chennai is a startup and the employee count is way beloew 20, so, the employer is not obligated to offer PF. So, My PF account has been inactive since 13/05/2014( The last interest I got on this account ). I plan to continue with this employer for the foreseeable future and growing to more than 20 employees could take a couple years.
If I want to close this account and withdraw the funds now, will the amount i withdraw be taxable? If so, what should I do to withdraw without being taxed? But, I am not getting a answer anywhere for my scenario. Could you please enlighten me?

EPFO do not deduct any TDS so you can withdraw it normally by submitting claim forms.

I was talking about TDS. Your information is right. If you withdraw the PF Funds before 5 years of the opening of account, you’ll have to pay taxes.
Thanks for the prompt and quick reply. Someone told me that I will have to wait five years after the account is opened otherwise, I will have to pay tax on the amount when I close. That rule does not apply to my account, is it? Kindly confirm. Thanks in advance for your prompt update.

Yes, you can close it in 2016 after completing 5 years. Your entire amount of EPF withdrawal will be considered as income in that financial year, if you withdraw it before 5 years of opening the same.

Give Your PF Details
On the next page titled “Check UAN Status”, Please fill your PF number. This is the most important part and you should fill your PF number properly. The PF number is usually mentioned on your salary slip.
Choose the state where your office is registered. Take care you may be working in different states. If you are confused, try to get an idea from the first two letters of PF numbers. The first two letters are for the state, such as HR for Haryana, DS for Delhi and UP for Uttar Pradesh.
Choose the PF office region. States may have the several regions. Delhi has 3 and Uttar Pradesh has 9 PF regions. You can trace the region from the next 3 letters of PF number.
After choosing the state and region the two columns of PF numbers will be filled automatically. Verify it with your PF number.
Now Please fill the organization number. Every employee in your organization has the same number. It would be the first group of digits in your PF number. It can go up to 7 digits.
In the fourth text box you need to fill the extension. In most of the cases this remains 000. It can even be one word letter like “X”.Also, It may not be in your PF number. You can leave it blank if its not there.
Now please fill your PF number. This is the number which is unique to you in your office. It can be of maximum 7 digits.

I tried to contact PF dept of Birlasoft B’lore but they suggested me to claim through her recent employer i.e, PWC, B’lore. I contacted HR people of PWC who actually helpmed to claim PWC’s PF amount. Hey Babu, I am sorry but I don’t understand your problem exactly. Why you are claiming your wife’s PF?
And what is now the problem exactly? You are saying you have already claimed her PF Money from her current employer. Means her earlier account needs to be claimed. If that is in hyderabad, why you are giving me Delhi PF number?

Hi Anu, thank you for your swift response. My wife was working with Birlasoft, Hyderabad and her PF number is the same I provided (dont know why Delhi code was given to the hyd branch). Please find the below concerns.
1. My wife Lavanya J was passed away while giving birth to my daughter hence I would like to close her PF account after claiming.
2. Problem now is when I contacted PF dept of Birlasoft for claiming, they suggested me to claim her recent employer which is PWC, B’lore. I contacted with PWC HR people and they suggested me by email. I am pasting the reply from PWC here.

Yes your understanding is obsolutely correct, I have my wife’s Birlasoft pay slips in that also the same PF number (DL169959524) is mentioned. Sometime ago I checked the balance sending request by sms, got the balance amt also but now not getting.

Hi Anoop! Yes, you can apply for PF Withdrawal on last working day if you are going Abroad.
Those employees who are going abroad for settlement and they don’t intend to return soon, can apply for immediate PF withdrawal.
Those employees who have gotten employment in a foreign country can also apply for PF Withdrawal just after the resignation.
To avail this concession you have to give proof of going abroad like submit visa copy and appointment letter as well, if any.
